Weekend...

My husband and his friend N took LM and N's two boys to the Coyotes game this weekend. They spent the night. LM said she liked the boys' weekend. I had big plans. I wanted to read the books I mentioned . I wanted to finish this book . I wanted to go see 'The King's Speech' and use the movie gift certificate my friend gave me. I wanted to clean my office a bit. Big plans. But you know what they say about the best laid plans. I offered to sell Girl Scout cookies for 5 hours on Saturday and 5 hours on Sunday (you read that correctly, a total of 10 hours) so there would be enough parents (there has to be 2) in order to keep the booth open. Keep in mind that LM was at the Coyotes game so I didn't have a child boothing on Sat or Sun. Although I know the leader appreciated it and so did the parents I helped out I think I should have only offered to do it once. But I made a committment to the leader (who is also a friend) and I was going to honor it. Even ...

That's what I've got. Nothing. I guess all writers have blocks every now and then. I just feel like I have nothing to write about of any interest right now. At least nothing that I want to take the time to research and write properly. I will say that we are watching 'Avatar' right now and I just don't get it. Don't get me wrong, it's okay but not as fabulous as I was led to believe. To each his own, I guess. That's all for now. I've still got nothing...

Boredom. We just got back from seeing this. Oh my. Of course Little Miss loved it. She has been asking to see it for weeks and we finally gave in since she has been so good all week. We thought it would be a nice reward for her. Little did we know how painful it would be for us. I know it is based on a book and there seemed to be a lesson for the kids to learn (I came away with 'greed isn't good'- not sure if that is the intended message or not). There are on line printables available, lesson plans for teachers - it's a big deal apparently. Just not a great movie. Maybe just the adults don't like it. My friend Dawn warned me but said her little one liked it. Maybe we're just too old for it. I do know that LM was beyond thrilled to see it and walked out with a big smile on her face. Can't ask for much more then that. Oh, did I mention we got to wear those fun 3D glasses too?

It's been a while...

Well, I cannot believe it is Wednesday evening. Where did the week go? Oh, I know. We got a call from my dad on Saturday at noon saying my Grandmother had taken a turn for the worse and he and my mom were going up on Sunday. After very little discussion, my husband & I decided to go also. We rode separately as my husband needed to get back to work and my parents weren't sure how long they would stay. We arrived at my grandparent's about 5'ish on Sunday (after an 8 hour trip). My grandmother was asleep and had not been awake since Saturday afternoon. She is on morphine (she is in alot of pain, probably from stomach cancer but it has never been diagnosed since she told the doctor that she would not be cut open to find out - my grandma is 91.) So they have been giving her the morphine every couple of hours to keep the pain from getting too bad so she is sleeping. When she wakes she is in alot of pain. We just arrived home this evening. As of today she is still s...

Movie night...

My husband and I watched "Vantage Point" last night after my daughter went to bed. Oh my, the showing of the same thing over and over was irritating to say the least. Luckily, we were able to fast forward it and keep the story going. The actual storyline was really good but I wish it had been told differently (but then the name of the movie would have to be changed!) Of course, anything with Dennis Quaid can't be too bad. He played a good guy, too. Forrest Whitaker was good, as always. And remember Matthew Fox from "Party of 5"? He played Quaid's colleague and turned out to be a bad guy. I figured this out fairly early on which is unusual for me. :) All in all it's a pretty good movie. I think if we were prepared for the 'Groundhog Day' -like aspect we might have not been as 'miffed'. But if you're prepared it's worth a watch.
