September Acres

Welcome to our 2012 Holiday Home.  I switched things up a bit from years past but I  didn't buy any new decorations this year except for the wreaths for the front door. I'll let you look around a bit.  Enjoy! I am linking up to Show Us Your House @ Thrifty Decor Chick today.  Today's feature is family rooms.  There are some fabulous ones over there and I have oodles of ideas churning in my head. We have one family/living/great room in our house.  It's a decent size but I always like a formal living space (we've only had that once & I am sad to say that we used it for a pool table).  My husband says there's no need for a formal living room - I guess not if it houses a pool table! :) Our family room is to the left of our front door.  This is the view as you walk into the house.  I think the lighting is horrible in the room.  We have two large corner windows  & a tube skylight (hate it) over the red chair, so you'd think there would be plenty of light. It just always feel dark to me.  When I open the blinds it's too hot with the sun in the summer, although the winters aren't too bad. The view as you walk in from the front door....

Here are a few glimpses of Christmas at September Acres. The Tree.  The wreath by the front door. The stockings hung just inside of the front door.  Not our 'Santa' stockings, just something fun. A bit of our new Christmas Village.  LM has been asking for one for a couple of years.  We spotted this 'starter' set at Lowes for $79 so I caved!  I am enjoying it and can't wait to see what additions I can find at the after Christmas sales! Our coffee table and the Christmas card 'bucket'. A side table in the living room.  My mom gave me the print in the frame.  I have no idea where it came from so if it's yours or you know who created it please let me know so I can give credit where credit is due.  It's cute though, isn't it? We spent part of last week at my sister's house in Park City, Utah. I love her house. Just love it. She has great taste and has decorated her home beautifully. I took the liberty of taking a few pictures while we there and thought I would share. She totally gave me permission! This is her landing at the top of her stairs. It has a built in book case and a nice display area on the top. I happen to know the picture on the wall is still available at World Market (Cost Plus). I'm not sure if you can tell how fabulous the wall color is but it's a wonderful yellow - Emperor by Ralph Lauren (Home Depot). My grandmother painted the painting to the left of the fruit bowl. This is her master bedroom. Very soothing and warm. The pictures above the bed are photos she took on a trip and had framed. A great (& frugal) way to remember your travels.
