Day 15 - Making your House your Home - Favorite Things

Image
I always love a good Favorite Things post and I know we all have things that help make our house feel like a home.  Some of mine are: A nice, high thread count white sheet set . Good sheets are really important to me and well worth the money.  We all have our vices... Pottery Barn A welcoming rug in the entry way. Ballard Designs A fabulous way to make a fabulous cup of coffee . I love my Verismo and it makes a lovely cup of coffee or espresso.  Your favorite may be a Keurig, or a Nespresso or a Miele or or a french press or a Mr. Coffee but whatever your preference you can't beat a good cup of coffee. A good book . Or many good books...  My current read is this one:  It's fascinating.  Such interesting lives the members of this family have lived. Some of my other recent favorites are: The Things that Matter   by Nate Berkus is one that I re-read and just look at often. This is part of my 31...

Pumpkin Love....

Image
Better Homes and Gardens It seems like everyone is pumpkin crazy this year.  Everywhere you look there is pumpkin spice something for sale.  From the Pumpkin Spice Latte to pumpkin ice cream to pumpkin candles.  Pumpkin is everywhere! Some of my favorites: The Pumpkin Pie ice cream from Safeway .  We tried it for the first time last year and I am hoping that I can find it again this year.  The graham cracker crust pieces swirled in the pumpkin ice cream give it a truly authentic pumpkin pie taste.  Safeway also had a pumpkin yogurt last year that was super tasty. Coffee-mate Pumpkin Spice Creamer .  Move over Starbucks.  This is the perfect way to easily recreate the PSL at home.  I have actually never bought this because I don't buy creamer but I have a friend who buys it (for me, perhaps?) and when we are at her house scrap booking it is my creamer of choice in the fall.  Maybe one day I'll purchase my very own...

It's time for Melissa's Favorite Things Party  over at 320 Sycamore.  It's one of my favorite things! Here's my list of my other favorite things: The Kitchen Aid Mixer.  L O V E  It is the first Christmas gift my husband bought me 15 or so years ago and it's still one of my favorite things in my kitchen.  Mine is white and the basic model.  Nothing fancy here but it can take all the attachments and is a whiz in the kitchen!  Can't imagine not having it. Pan Am, the series.  I really look forward to Sunday nights.  This is the only hour long drama I watch and I am hooked.  I hear a rumor that the show may not be here for the long haul (& I hope it's just a rumor) but there are still a few more episodes that are supposed to be aired and I am going to enjoy them and ignore the nasty rumors. The pomegranate.  I love a good pomegranate.  In it's pure state, eaten raw.  Just like you see here....

31 Days of Hospitality: Day 12-Favorite Things...

Image
On Day 6 of the 31 Days of Hospitality I talked about overnight guests.  I mentioned the things that help make your guests feel at home.  I thought that today I would mention some of my favorites.  I am not getting a thing for mentioning these products, they're just faves of mine and when I find something I love I like to share. Towels : Royal Velvet are my faves.  I prefer white towels but I know everyone has an opinion on colors.  For wash cloths I do like something darker since they usually get dirtier; taking off makeup and such things.  I remember reading years ago that Martha Stewart gets dark wash cloths and has them embroidered with the word 'makeup' so guests know to use those clothes for makeup and they're easier to keep looking clean than white. S heets :  I love the Pottery Barn Essentials line.  The prices are reasonable for good quality.  300 thread count sheets that are comfy.  Again I prefer white but they ...

My Favorite Things...

It's time for Melissa's Favorite Things Party again. It was hard narrowing it down to just a few but I did it. To keep me going through the busy Christmas season I am loving the Peppermint Mocha at Startbucks . I like to think I am working off all the calories during the day as I run around like a crazy lady. We'll see next time I hop on the scale! I LOVE the Almond Oil Hand Cream @ the Body Shop. It's not too greasy and has a lovely scent. My husband and I discovered this Stoneleigh wine at a restaurant in town a while back and fell in love with the Pinot Noir . Truly the best wine I have tasted. It is from New Zealand and I am on the look out for it at the store so I can take a bottle or two home with me. Keihls eye cream with avocado is my favorite eye cream. If you are at the age where you need eye cream you should give this one a try. It feels wonderful when you put it on and that little jar lasts a long time. Pop over to see Melissa and join in the fun.

My Favorite Things....

Join Melissa @ 320 Sycamore for her My Favorite Things party. Here are my favorite things: David Cook. The CD. Still lovin' it. Listen to it a lot. It's good. Very good. Philosophy Lip Gloss. I have the melon daiquiri flavor and love it. It's shiny AND stays on. Tastes good, too. About $12. Electric Pepper Mill. How did I live without this? Really. You can find one like this at Crate & Barrel for about $40 or so. Peets Coffee . I talk about Starbucks a lot because we don't have a Peets here. It's really the best in my opinion. Luckily you can find it in the grocery store for about $14/lb -or less when it's on sale. You know that's when I buy it! :) Measuring cups. I have these from Williams-Sonoma. I love them. I think it's my favorite thing in my kitchen. At least one of them. And one I use almost daily. It took a while for me to break down and buy them but I have to admit that it's the best $30 I have ever spent. When Little Miss moves us...
