Back in the day, most of us probably got our home inspiration from magazines like Southern Living, Country Living and House Beautiful.  These days there is the internet with blogs and other home websites which means we don't have to wait for the latest issues of our magazines to get inspired. Some of my favorite sites: HGTV - While I am not as in love with the HGTV channel as I used to be I still love the website and go to it often for inspiration.  Better Homes & Gardens - Another wonderful website for all kinds of home inspiration. Southern Hospitality - Rhoda's blog is awesome.  And I love her Feature Friday where we get a peek inside others' homes.   Jennifer Rizzo  - Another favorite blog.  I love her Holiday Housewalk each year.  Where do you find your inspiration? There are so many cute advent calendars out there this year and if you're not careful you could end up spending a small fortune on one of them.  Before you do that, consider a fun DIY advent calendar.  There are many ideas and tutorials out there that are budget friendly and really fun to put together.  In no particular order here are 12 of my favorites - I'd  have them all in my home if I could! The Envelope Advent Calendar - I just love the idea of this because it's super easy and pretty inexpensive.  Most of us have envelopes on hand to make this happen.  This is the perfect type of calendar for 'experience' treats as opposed to toys or candy.  Things like: watch 'Elf' tonight, go sledding or make cookies with mom can be printed out on the computer on paper and tucked in the envelope for a fun activity.  This one from A Few Things From My Life is one of my favorites. Be who you're meant to be, not what you've become because every one's so busy. I am not a Glenn Beck fan. No particular reason. He just came along too late to join my talk show party. I have the shows I listen to and LOVE but there just wasn't room for one more. So I never listen or watch. Until today. He is on the talk radio station on XM right before Dave Ramsey (who I do have room for). I turned to the station this morning thinking it was time for Dave but it wasn't. Glenn Beck was on talking about stockpiling food for an emergency (I think). As I was getting ready to change the channel I heard him say this: Be who you're meant to be not what you've become because every one's so busy I thought, 'I have to remember that.' I am not sure if the thought this up on his own or if he was quoting someone else. I am not sure it matters but if someone knows I'd love to give credit where credit is due.
