Ballet Shoes....

A while back I came across LM's very first ballet shoes. She took her first class when she was 4 1/2; she turned 5 during the 'season' (which runs from August through June). It was a struggle to get through the year. She was just too young. The next few years she didn't want to dance so I didn't push it. This past August she decided to pick it up again and this time she loves it. When I found the old shoes I thought it would be neat to do something with them. Here's what I came up with: I picked up a shadow box at Michaels a few weeks ago on clearance. I went through my scrapbook paper and found one I liked for the background and a coordinating one for inside the shoes.

I cut the background paper to 8X10 (the size of the frame) and pulled out the lining in the shoes and traced it for the striped paper. All the paper was adhered with glue dots. I pinned the shoes to the backing with the straight pins that came with the frame. And voila! I debated painting the frame (of course) but decided to stick with the brown wood.

I think it turned out soooo cute. And it only took about 20 minutes - my kind of project. I spent about $6 on the frame and the rest of the things I already had.

What a cute idea. I also have Sam's first ballet slippers and now I might just have to frame them too :0)
What an absolutely precious idea!
So cute. What a resourceful idea!

It turned out really cute and you can't beat $6, plus now that she's into ballet again she'll probably treasure this project. Great job!

That is soooooo way better than "bronzing" them. This is just the cutest idea! May use it for my own pair.
