The Kitchen Backsplash Reveal...

Have you ever done a project and wondered 'why didn't I do this sooner?' That's me with this back splash. We have been casually talking about it for a couple of years and seriously since October. We bought 2 samples of what we wanted back then. But I wasn't quite ready to commit. Why didn't I want to commit? Well, we have very little wall space in our kitchen and I was worried about having even less room to hang things. And the tile is going to be there for a long, long time! What if I don't like it?? But I shouldn't have worried too much since the back splash makes the room look so much brighter and bigger. Frankly, I don't care about hanging things when something looks this good! I can't believe how much that brown paint sucked the light out of the room. Even when we had the lights on.

I think it makes the cabinets looker brighter and better. It really sets off the counter tops.

I want to keep the counters clutter free now. Ah, the things that motivate us!

I put the Cuisinart in a cabinet and my husband wanted me to put the Kitchen Aid mixer in there too. I decided against that since it's a high cabinet and they weigh alot. I can just see him coming home and finding me on the floor with a mixer on my head! So the mixer stays out.

We are super happy with the way this turned out. So I guess I would say that if you want a new look don't be afraid. Go with your instincts. If it feels right, go for it. If not, keep looking until it does feel right. Don't be afraid to commit. Chances are it's going to look great!

That's beautiful! Did you do it? Tell me you did, and that it was very easy!! I agree - keep everything hidden - except the mixer. Mine is on top of the refrigerator and I'm so scared that making a cake is going to send me to the hospital!
Looks beautiful and really adds a nice finishing touch to the space. Great choice! Visiting from BNOTP. Hope you'll stop by and visit when you get a chance :)

love it! We just did a total over haul of the walls of our kitchen, which of course included the backsplash area. We had so many layers of wallpaper, our contractor said it would be cheaper to take it down to the studs and hang new drywall!! I couln't believe it when he said it!

Anyway, we found some tile at a local builder's overstock place that is beautiful, and it was a fraction of the cost. Like you, I could not believe how much LIGHTER our kitchen looks now.

Followed over from Meta Monday at BNOTP. Come by and see me anytime! (My lanterns are the ones right before yours!)

Take care!

Wow! What a difference the tile made! I wouldn't hide the mixer either. I absolutely love mine and use it all the time. Don't you just love to work in your "new" space?

Hi Debra!

Wow! This looks great!!

Thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting!! I thought the price was pretty excessive when I could copy it for $6 bucks too!! Having Lowe's so close is a blessing and a curse!! I visit more, which means I spend more!! :o)

Hi Debra! The backsplash is wonderful and I love the tile you chose. I have the same mixer and I had to laugh because I did put it in a upper cabinet. It weighs so much I had to wait until hubby got home to get it out. It now sits on my countertop. Thanks for linking to my party.
