White Sheets...

Who doesn't love the feel of the crisp white sheets you find in fancy (and not so fancy) hotels. It's easier than ever to re-create that feel at home. On any kind of budget. Retailers everywhere are selling 'hotel' linens. Everyone from Wal-mart to Pottery Barn - and beyond. We actually got our white sheets at the same place we got our mattress and head board. And they were a fabulous price (I can't remember exactly but I think right about $100 for a king) for 600 thread count 100% cotton sheets. White bedding doesn't have to be plain. It can be ruffled or ruched or monogrammed. It can be crocheted. It can be lace. It can be jersey or flannel. It can be fun. But it will always be comfy and inviting and clean.
Pottery Barn has a great feature in their bedding section called the all-white bed. It offers great inspiration for making your own bed all white - or even partially white.



White sheets go with everything. If you want a colored comforter, your white sheets will work perfectly. Find a wild print you can't live without? No problem, your white sheets will work. I like white sheets with a white duvet cover - & here at September Acres we live on the edge - white cotton in the warm months, white flannel in the cooler months. I am considering switching out the decorative pillows to all white for the summer. In the meantime I have blue and green ones giving the bed a little pop. I love the clean, crisp look of white sheets. They're my favorite actually. We also have a set of dark brown ones (trying to keep the hubby happy! He picked them out.) but I love the day when the brown gets changed out for the white. For that week I can enjoy those white sheets on our bed...

Hi Debra, Until recently I had never splurged on luxury sheets. My son gave us a gift certificate and I used it to buy a 800ct sheet set.(White of course) There is no going back now! Thanks for joining my Open House party!

I get to do all the decor at my house but there is one rule white furniture is not an option!lol I love the sea shell pillow on your bed super cute with the white sheets!

Changes...

I posted some photos of my living room a while back. I realized how blah and boring it looks. I appreciate the suggestions I was given. One of them was 'paint'. We had the walls painted a couple years ago so I really didn't want to do it again just yet so I had to figure what else I could do to get some color in there. I thought about painting a canvas red to match the chair ( below). After talking to my sister she suggested dipping cool whip containers in paint to make the circles and an idea was born. I bought the 3 canvases (20" X 20") at Michaels at 50% off - the three cost $21. I got a quart of paint at Lowe's ($12 - Martha Stewart's Cranberry something or the other). The blue paint was a sample size of Olympic that someone didn't buy -$1. Cool whip container and little round container I had in the kitchen - free. Fleur de lis printed off computer, traced on canvas and painted - free. So for $34 I got this new look. Very David Bro...

Monday, Monday...

Monday's are usually my favorite days. Everyone is back to work and school and I have the morning to gather my thoughts and eat a leisurely breakfast before starting my day. My friend, E, who I carpool with has her husband take the kids to school since he is off on Mondays. Today, however, has been a bit odd. We had a new dishwasher delivered this morning and my husband uninstalled the old one last night. This morning I wake up to a leak in one of the dishwasher hoses - thankfully just a slow leak but still an inconvenience. My husband had to come home and semi-install the new dishwasher to stop the leak. I have been washing the dishes in the wet bar sink instead of the kitchen sink since something is turned off there and the hubby said not to use it until the new dishwasher is totally installed. I am thankful to have a wet bar sink and not have to resort to washing the dishes in the bathroom - something I am sure we've all had to do at one time. I have some things in t...
