TGIF...

I'll be happy when tomorrow gets here. It's been a crazy, busy week. Tomorrow will be pretty busy, too. Come to think of it so will Sat and Sun. hmmm..

So, I have been thinking about my blog and what I want it to be. Just me rambling about whatever comes to mind, a specific topic (kids, decorating, etc.) I don't really know yet but I have been thinking about it. I don't know that it matters but I read these fun blogs and think "I want mine to be fun" yet I don't know if I can just do ONE topic always. And heaven knows I don't need multiple blogs.

I was in my daughter's class today. Crazy, I tell you. These kids are so ready for school to be out. Apparently, it's normal this time of year but they still have five weeks left of school. All I can say is I am glad I go in just once a week. I would be committed if I had to do it everyday. I have a lot of respect for these kindergarten teachers. I don't know if it's the same in all grades but I am amazed what they have to put up with: kids coming to school without breakfast, without sleep, homework not done, folders crammed with weeks worth of work which makes it look like the parents don't look at the kid's school work (that drives me crazy). I find it hard to believe that things get any better as the years go on but I hope they do. It's just not fair to the kids. I know it is 'easier' for the parents to not feed them, not put them to bed on time, not look at their work, etc. but I really feel for some of these kids. The weird thing is that we live in a 'good' school district. What do the districts that are not considered 'good' have going on? That said, we are not perfect but I like to think we do everything possible to make sure our daughter goes to school ready to learn.

After I left school today I had to run to the store to pick up a few things and got these cute new 'summer' tumblers. The picture doesn't really do them justice but they are toooooo cute! I got four of them and they were only 99 cents each. Quite the bargain I thought. They will be great for using outside. My old ones are on their last leg. They are really thick, acrylic I think and apparently they are not meant to be put in the dishwasher for years. I put something in one a while back and the cup started leaking! There are small cracks in them. So I knew the time for new tumblers was coming right along with summer. :) The new ones are melamine so they should do fine in the dishwasher for a long time to come. My next summer purchase is plastic wine glasses. A little bit of a splurge I guess so I will wait for a great deal. I make my Walmart run tomorrow so I will look there. But I am not in too much of a hurry since I am doing phase one of Bob Greene's best life diet and am not supposed to drink wine anyway. :) I have had the book for a about a year and just haven't really ever gotten into it but finally I have. It took long enough. There are some yummy recipes in the book too. Doesn't that kiwi in the picture look good?
I am off to bed. A little early but I am beat! Hopefully a few extra minutes will have me refreshed for tomorrow...
