The sound of football...


I think every sport has a distinct 'sound'. If I am in the kitchen and my husband has the tv on I can usually identify the sport just my the sound. I wonder if that's a talent?? Last night I heard the sound of football. The Cardinals were playing the Saints in a preseason (I don't know who won, sorry). Earlier every year. Which is okay with me - I love football. But I have to admit it is hard to really get in the spirit when it's 110 out. But I try.
I am a big 49'ers fan even though they have had some dismal years. The heydays of Joe Montana (our dog is named Montana), Jerry Rice and Ronnie Lott are long gone but they have to get better eventually. I keep saying that. Living in AZ I really want to like the Cardinals. I really do but it's hard. I am liking that Kurt Warner is there - such a great guy.
I was thinking about who my favorite player is now. I keep coming back to Brett Favre. The 'retirement' debacle aside, he too is a great player. He is the last of that great QB dynasty (Joe Montana, John Elway, Dan Marino, Jim Kelly, etc.) The new QB's are great but it's not the same. I like that Brett Favre was born in the 60's too (just barely). Makes me feel not as old. haha
So I am looking forward to another football season. College and pro. It's one of the things I think that makes fall such a neat season...

I love football too. There is just something about cool crisp air on clear fall night that makes football all that more magical. In the house I grew up in we could hear the bands playing during the games, it was very fun. We have yet to go to a Seahawks game. The past few years have been fun to watch. Hassleback finally has his stuff together. I really enjoy college football. Every year we look forward to the UW v. WSU game. It's not quite Michigan v. OSU, but it's close :0)

Changes...

I posted some photos of my living room a while back. I realized how blah and boring it looks. I appreciate the suggestions I was given. One of them was 'paint'. We had the walls painted a couple years ago so I really didn't want to do it again just yet so I had to figure what else I could do to get some color in there. I thought about painting a canvas red to match the chair ( below). After talking to my sister she suggested dipping cool whip containers in paint to make the circles and an idea was born. I bought the 3 canvases (20" X 20") at Michaels at 50% off - the three cost $21. I got a quart of paint at Lowe's ($12 - Martha Stewart's Cranberry something or the other). The blue paint was a sample size of Olympic that someone didn't buy -$1. Cool whip container and little round container I had in the kitchen - free. Fleur de lis printed off computer, traced on canvas and painted - free. So for $34 I got this new look. Very David Bro

Monday, Monday...

Monday's are usually my favorite days. Everyone is back to work and school and I have the morning to gather my thoughts and eat a leisurely breakfast before starting my day. My friend, E, who I carpool with has her husband take the kids to school since he is off on Mondays. Today, however, has been a bit odd. We had a new dishwasher delivered this morning and my husband uninstalled the old one last night. This morning I wake up to a leak in one of the dishwasher hoses - thankfully just a slow leak but still an inconvenience. My husband had to come home and semi-install the new dishwasher to stop the leak. I have been washing the dishes in the wet bar sink instead of the kitchen sink since something is turned off there and the hubby said not to use it until the new dishwasher is totally installed. I am thankful to have a wet bar sink and not have to resort to washing the dishes in the bathroom - something I am sure we've all had to do at one time. I have some things in t
