My Living Room...

One Fabulous Mom offered us a look into her beautiful living room yesterday and asked others to join in so we can check each other's rooms out. So here you have it. My living room. Below is what you see when you walk in the door. The red chair was just recently recovered (it was a pale floral). Since I had that recovered I needed to change a few things. I have done some things but it's still a work in progress. The small tables on both sides of the red chair were freebies for helping some friends move. The recliner is my husbands. He takes great pride in it. It cannot be moved. Ever.Below is our 'pot shelf'. Pot shelves are very popular in Arizona. To me they are just dust collectors (so don't look too closely as I rarely get up there.) But if you have a pot shelf you need to do something with it. So this is what I have come up with. Most of the items came from a small home store in town. Or Pier One. Or Target. The big shiny spot in the middle is a sky light.
Here's the couch and it's new owner. Obviously, I would like this to look a little more put together but this is my life. My grandmother made the rug. It doesn't totally match but my grandma made it so it stays.

The lovely entertainment area. And the reason why I incorporated black into the decor. The globe is my grandma's and when she moved out of her house she couldn't take it with her so I got dibs on it. It was really the only thing I wanted. The sea of black under the library table? Our DVD collection. Disgusting. We could probably buy a new car for what we have in DVD's. Before you rent anything, please check with us. We like to share.

And, the piece de resistance--------the TV. The reason why we cannot move the recliner. I like it on a wall better than on a stand but it doesn't give me much to work with on the mantle. The guitars are for the rock band and guitar hero. I only have one living area so this is how I have tried to make it work for everyone. We actually use the fireplace quite a bit (my husband says it's because I won't turn the heat on - not true). When we moved to AZ I had resigned myself to the fact that we wouldn't have a fireplace and we probably wouldn't need it. But this house has 2 - one in the living room and one in the master bedroom. What a nice surprise. The throw pillows are from TJ Maxx.
Hope you've enjoyed the tour. I welcome any comments or suggestions. Just remember, the recliner can't be moved...

Love the leopard pillows by the fireplace, and I have a shelf like that all the way around the room in our den which yu will be seeing soon! Two suggestions. PAINT! Paint the walls, the coffee table? Something to bring it all together. What style are you going for in there? Let me know if I'm annoying!

-The Mrs- I agree about the paint-especially after seeing these pictures. I am not really sure what style I am after - early American recliner, maybe? I really like the Pottery Barn type look but I think I am far from that. I think a new rug would help too & I am looking for something I like. You are definitely not annoying. I appreciate the input.

-Solar Powered - our dog is named Smokey.
