My trip to Walmart...

If you have read this blog for any time you know of my dislike for Walmart. Well, I am having my husband's birthday party on Saturday and decided I would head to Walmart for the supplies and some of the food. Mainly I was going for the beer and wine as they have the best prices in town. They also have the best prices on paper goods (plates, napkins, etc.) I was happy with what I got and the prices. I actually came in almost $5 under budget. I have a couple small things to pick up at the grocery store on Sat. morning which may put me a tad over but if I hadn't trekked out to Walmart I would be WAY over. The thing that made me the happiest was my big pumpkin shown above. $3.98!! They are $6 at Safeway and I kept thinking that was alot. I guess I was right. :)
My friend is being kind enough to make a big pot of chili for the party. She is a great cook and it will be one less thing for me to do. I am making homemade mac 'n cheese. Kind of a comfort food type of party. A few other friends are bringing some dips - again, one less thing for me to do. At first I wasn't going to take them up on their offers to bring something - I wanted to do it all - crazy, I know. But I decided that they wouldn't offer if they didn't want to do it so I took them up on the offers.
My daughter's class is going on a field trip today to a local ice cream parlor. I am going to meet them there in a little while so I am off...

It is hard when you host a party to accept help, but I know that whenever I go to a party I love to bring something. You're lucky that you have friends that want to help out :0)

Hi Debbie, I can totally understand about the wal-mart thing. No matter what hour of the day it always is FULL of people. Glad that you found such great deals!
